Adam Curtis Online showcases a special selection of textile products that have been designed, developed and produced by Adam Curtis, a third generation woolman who has spent most of his working life within the British wool industry.
For the greater part of his career, Adam has specifically focused on the promotion of Real Shetland Wool, sourced exclusively from the Shetland Islands. In that time, he has brought to market several stunning product ranges, including but not limited to The Natural Collection of throws, carpets, floor rugs, cushions and duvets; and, most recently, the very special Heritage Collection of dyed throws.
All Real Shetland Wool used in these products is bought directly from the Shetland crofter and initially hand-sorted and graded in Shetland before being sent to Haworth Scouring Company in Yorkshire, the most environmentally friendly and efficient scouring plant of its type in the world and home to the UK’s last commercial combing facility. From here, the different grades of Real Shetland Wool are either combed (for worsted yarns such as those used in the Heritage throws) or spun directly from the scoured wool (which is called woollen spun yarn, as used in the Natural Collection ranges).
Supporting the British Textile Industry is very important to ACO and as such, all elements of production are kept within the UK.
Featuring at British House are ACO’s Real Shetland ‘Natural Collection’ throws, cushions and sheepskins as well as one of the lovely new Heritage throws, Sandwick.
