Skignz is a geolocation based augmented reality platform created to provide billions of mobile device users with a whole new way to view and engage with information, from retail brands and visual wayfinding through to locating your friends a Music Festival. Skignz provides brands, infrastructure companies, governments and the general public the opportunity to interact and visualise digital content anywhere on the planet. Skignz places hyper-local information in your location when you need it most, which is especially useful as four out of five people can’t read Maps.
Skignz has three key focus areas: user and brand experience, visualising third party data and developing the technology through our Skignz ‘labz development team’. The huge opportunity working with ‘the skignz platform’ is engage with customers/users in a more unique and visual way.
Skignz was formed in June 2013; however the overall idea of how you see the platform today was already in development prior to this. Running in beta throughout 2013-14 before launching in 2015, Skignz has since won numerous awards, featured in many publications and continues to grow and attract some of the world’s most prominent brands.
A key to Skignz’s success to date is that it’s not only brands and organisations that can use Skignz: we encourage the users to set up their own accounts and place their own content. This is interesting, fun and engaging, but also extremely useful in many different scenarios. Ever lost your friends in a crowd? Your car in a car park? Your tent at a Festival? With the help of Skignz, these problems are a thing of the past.
